[/slider][/one_full] The Mum Heart Conference in Australia was born out of a desire to encourage mums in their journey as a mother and as a teacher of their children.

These conferences began in 2012 when Barbara Somervaille and a wonderful team of women from Queensland’s Darling Downs organised the Sunshine Coast Mum Heart conference. The following year a group of NSW mums took on the challenge to host a conference in Newcastle, NSW. Since then we have been alternating the conference organisation between a these two teams that are headed up by Barb Sommervaille from the Darling Downs in Queensland and Michelle Morrow from Hunter Region.

We hope one day to see a Mum Heart conference in each state of Australia.

2017 will be our sixth national conference!

Ladies have travelled from all corners of Australia to join us each time and it is wonderful to see the blessing it is for those more isolated to meet others sharing the homeschooling journey.

We are not a formal organisation. The team is a group of Christian mothers who value wholehearted motherhood and desire to encourage all mums to be the best they can be.

The format and content of these conferences was inspired by Sally Clarkson’s Mom Heart Conferences in America and is not for profit.[/fusion_text][/one_full]

She has been a mum for more than half her life and she wouldn’t be where she is today if it weren’t for God’s grace and the gift of good friends sharing the homeschooling journey. Barb and her husband educated their children from way back when and now have just three doing school at home. Five down, three to go!

Teaching and training her family at home is her life’s work. Barb is committed for the long haul and she looks forward to sharing a little about how the Lord has carried her with strength and joy through the adventures so far.[/person]

Michelle loves being a wife and a mother. Homeschooling was a step of faith that she made with her husband’s encouragement fifteen years ago. Three of her children are now studying at university and her fourth only has a couple of years left till she finishes. She loves encouraging homeschooling mums in her own home and through her website and blog Homeschooling Downunder.

She wonders what life will look like after homeschooling but knows God has plans for her.[/person]
